Personal Statement
Susan, who has been based in Edinburgh since 1989, trained at Herefordshire College of Art & Design and Middlesex Polytechnic.
Discussing her work, she says “Drawing and collage underpin my creative activity as a jeweller. I handle materials intuitively; this fuels the development of ideas, often in direct response to the making process.
“Gold and silver, usually in the form of wire, provide the basic dialogue, whilst combining and contrasting textile related materials offer a greater freedom of expression and spontaneity.
“Silver is oxidised black, likening it to the drawn graphite or inky line. Linear structure, texture and transparency are all qualities with which I am fascinated.”
Susan's work is held in several collections and included in various publications
